If you have been charged with driving while your license is suspended you are facing jail time, fines, and the potential of having a criminal conviction on your driving record and increased insurance rates. If you are accused of driving while your license is suspended, it is important that you have an experienced lawyer on your side. There are several degrees of driving while your license is suspended. Here is an overview:
RCW 46.20.342 is the Driving while license suspended statute.
Third Degree is the most common crime of driving while your license is suspended. This is a crime punishable up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. You can be charged with this crime even if you did not know your license was suspended. The prosecutor merely has to prove that you drove your car while your license was suspended in this or any other state. Any person who has a valid Washington driver's license is not guilty of a violation of the DWLS statute.
Second Degree is punishable by up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine. If you are convicted of this crime your license will be revoked for an additional year. If your license is revoked it means you will have to take the driver's test again before you can get your license back.
First Degree is also punishable by up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine. There is mandatory jail time of 10 days if you are convicted on a first offense and 90 days for a second offense and 180 days for a third offense. This is the most serious driving while suspended offense.

Jeannie, 13 for 13 is amazing. I would not have insurance or would not be able to drive if not for your great work. In fact, my insurance rates just went down in January. Thanks Again. Phil V.
David R. - Kirkland, WA We highly recommend Jeannie without reservation. Quick, professional, concise, stress-free yet affordable. She is batting 1000 for our family with four speeding tickets plus another more complicated infraction. Absolutely worth choosing Jeannie vs paying the ticket and living with the insurance impact for years. Go to her website and follow the instructions. would definitely hire Jeannie again if I had a problem with a traffic ticket in Washington State!
Sarah P. - Mercer Island, WA After receiving a speeding ticket on Hwy12 near White Pass I asked around about a lawyer who could help me. Jeannie's name came up a few times. Her fee was much more than my ticket but I felt it was well worth it considering the amount of money I will save keeping my insurance rates lower and the peace of mind of a clean driving record. I especially liked that I didn't have to take off a day of work to drive to Chehalis for the hearing! Jeannie did all that for me. I will hire her again if the unfortunate need arises again!
Andrew B. - Bellevue, WA I am close friends with a DA in Issaquah, after getting a ticket that would affect a prior deferment and my insurance rates I decided to ask for legal help. After talking to my friend who works as a DA she said that by far the best lawyer to represent me for traffic in the area is Jeannie P Mucklestone. Later that week I contacted her and told her staff the story and they thought it was ironic because my friend, the DA, has often times been on the opposite side of the court room from Ms. Mucklestone and although they are not friends outside the courtroom they have earned a lot of respect for each other. Well Jeanie Mucklestone's staff were prompt and efficient and I got out of the ticket no problem and was very pleased at their ability to effectively and efficiently handle my situation.
I'd be in jail without her. She is the best Jeff P.
Chris T. - Lynnwood, WA I was heading south on I-5 Federal Way when I was stopped for doing 78mph in a 60mph zone. Needless to say, it was an expensive ticket. I searched AVVO and read through the reviews. Surprisingly, Jeannie Mucklestone had a ton of good reviews. I selected Jeannie solely on these reviews. I emailed her, then hired her. I am completely satisfied with the results. She was able to get my infraction dismissed!! I did not have to go to court. She kept me informed and was timely in her response. I am so pleased with the outcome...it's as if I never happened. Granted I had to pay, but it sure beats having my insurance increase. I would definitely contact her again, if I ever needed to (hopefully this will not be the case). that. anyhow - jeannie rocks. hire her.
