If you have been charged with driving while your license is suspended you are facing jail time, fines, and the potential of having a criminal conviction on your driving record and increased insurance rates. If you are accused of driving while your license is suspended, it is important that you have an experienced lawyer on your side. There are several degrees of driving while your license is suspended. Here is an overview:
RCW 46.20.342 is the Driving while license suspended statute.
Third Degree is the most common crime of driving while your license is suspended. This is a crime punishable up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. You can be charged with this crime even if you did not know your license was suspended. The prosecutor merely has to prove that you drove your car while your license was suspended in this or any other state. Any person who has a valid Washington driver's license is not guilty of a violation of the DWLS statute.
Second Degree is punishable by up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine. If you are convicted of this crime your license will be revoked for an additional year. If your license is revoked it means you will have to take the driver's test again before you can get your license back.
First Degree is also punishable by up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine. There is mandatory jail time of 10 days if you are convicted on a first offense and 90 days for a second offense and 180 days for a third offense. This is the most serious driving while suspended offense.

ANDREW C. - Seattle, WA Jeannie's law firm took care of a speeding ticket written by the WSP, north of Everett, on I-5. I was chosen out of a crowd, profiled, then written a ticket, for speeding. I have a CDL, and this is a major infraction for me. Her firm kept me informed of the process and called me immediately when the charges were dismissed. I felt confident throughout the process, but still, it is a crap shoot, so you have to have confidence in your choice of lawyers. Jeannie's firm gave me total confidence in their capabilities and did what they say that could do: protect me from the lawlessness of the WSP and their indiscriminate abuse of power on the highways. I was picked out of a crowd of vehicles and chosen to be the victim by my address on my license. Before the officer even told me of my infraction, he had run my plates and gotten my driving record and knew of my address and driving record and the fact that I had a CDL. Given the distance from the court, it was statistically a better ticket to write. Don't ever let the law push you around. Get an attorney and protect yourself, your insurance and your driving record.
Robert L. - Puyallup, WA Jeannie has represented members of my family and I on traffic infractions on numerous occasions. In each and every infraction she won for us and the infractions were dismissed. I have employed other attorneys in the past and I have to say that none of these attorneys comes close to her professionalism, knowledge of the law, and track record as an advocate. Jeannie is simply the best!
Scott J. - Sammamish, WA Jeannie is remarkable. I have held off using her services but I got a ticket I didn't think was fair and she took care of it. Excellent service, reasonable price. I will use her again.
Sarah P. - Mercer Island, WA After receiving a speeding ticket on Hwy12 near White Pass I asked around about a lawyer who could help me. Jeannie's name came up a few times. Her fee was much more than my ticket but I felt it was well worth it considering the amount of money I will save keeping my insurance rates lower and the peace of mind of a clean driving record. I especially liked that I didn't have to take off a day of work to drive to Chehalis for the hearing! Jeannie did all that for me. I will hire her again if the unfortunate need arises again!
Andrew T. - Seattle, WA Sometimes we make bad choices, as in my Case. With the amount of alcohol in my system I clearly should not have been driving at the time I was pulled over. I am an adult, I admit my faults. If you are unfortunate enough to make the same mistake I made, the best decision you can make is to hire Jeannie P Mucklestone ASAP. I was informed along the way exactly what to expect. After several court appearances my case was eventually dropped to a Reckless Driving offense, partly, I'm sure because it was a first offense and I have no record of anything, but mostly because of the firms relationships with the Courts. She and her staff have an excellent reputation and I believe it helps when confronting a Judge. I do not expect to repeat my bad choice. But I would highly recommend her if you find yourself in my position, and I would not hesitate to use her for any further traffic infraction
David N. - Seattle, WA Jeannie and her crew deliver - i've had her and her staff defend a number of tickets for me - and they work their magic every time. totally worth the money versus paying the ticket, suffering the insurance company bump in your premiums. she came highly recommended and i now know why. she even defended me in Lewis county - minding my own business, excited to be going skiing at white pass for a change - nailed by the trooper trap on the way up. what a scam. kinda like a red light camera only different. just raising money on the backs of the population one way or another. be careful if you go up there... i probably won't again. thanks to washington's finest. maybe they just want less of us up there. seems kinda silly to chase potential "tourist" revenue away with nonsense like that. anyhow - jeannie rocks. hire her.
